Raleigh— Senator Charlie Albertson praised today’s announcement by Gov. Beverly Perdue that $64 million in economic stimulus funds would be used to improve transportation in Lenoir County and $21.2 million would benefit Sampson and Duplin Counties. In Kinston, the funds will pay for 8 miles of new roadway (Crescent Road) from U.S. 70 to U.S. 258 near the Global TransPark. The funding will also pay for resurfacing of Interstate 40 on a 20-mile stretch from Samson County to Duplin County.

“I am so pleased with today’s announcement. These federal funds will be used almost immediately to help us create jobs in Eastern North Carolina and alleviate traffic congestion. I appreciate Governor Perdue’s hard work in securing the investment for our future.”
