Sen. Queen Helps Open Mitchell and Yancey Bridges

    Tuesday, June 09, 2009

Senator Joe Sam Queen recently joined local dignitaries and the state Department of Transportation to open two bridges over the North Toe River in Mitchell and Yancey Counties. Construction on the Huntdale and the Red Hill bridges over North Carolina Highway 197 began in 2007 and was completed in time for the May 29 dedication. While both bridges were originally scheduled to be dedicated, an overturned train forced organizers to cancel the Red Hill dedication.

"I am so pleased to attend this Huntdale bridge dedication with so many people who have worked hard to make these new bridges a reality. I’m very proud of both these fine bridges. It’s great to fulfill these commitments and see the success. And I assure you I will continue to work in the legislature for our mountain transportation needs," Senator Queen said.
