Visiting Us

Who can visit the Senate?
The third floor of the Senate provides a public viewing area. Visitors may take photographs but are restricted from eating, drinking, or using cellular telephones.

When to visit the Senate?
The Legislative Building is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, except on holidays. On Saturdays or government holidays, the building is open 9:00 – 5:00 pm. On Sundays, the Legislative building is open from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. For days when the Legislative session convenes after or extends beyond 5:00 pm, the building remains open to the public until after the session adjourns. On opening day or for special ceremonies space may be limited in the Senate’s public viewing area.

Does it cost money?
There is no admission charge to visit the Legislature. Groups may call (919)-807-7950 to schedule a free guided tour of the government complex.

Will I see my Senator there?
Depending on when you go, the Senate may be in session introducing, debating, and voting on various bills. Use this link to find your Democratic Senator.
