Senator Applewhite represents Cumberland County in North Carolina’s 19th Senatorial District.

A decorated veteran, Senator Applewhite retired honorably after a 20-year Intelligence and Communications Security career in the United States Air Force. She continued her public service as an Air Force civilian leading the Information Assurance Directorate at the Air Force Pentagon Communications Agency in Washington D.C.

Senator Applewhite served three terms on the Fayetteville NC City Council prior to her election to the NC Senate. Her tenure as a Council Representative underscores her commitment to economic development, safety, and the well-being of citizens. She was instrumental in improving public transportation, advocating for minority business participation, and fostering local economic growth.

Applewhite’s educational accomplishments include a MS in Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, complementing her extensive experience in public service. She is a Real Estate Broker and manages her own firm. Her personal drive and professional trajectory reflect her dedication to creating positive changes in her community and beyond.
